Close the Gaps, Coast-to-Coast & Regional Loops

Saturday I attended a ride from County Line Station to a Close the Gaps event at Winter Garden City Hall on the West Orange Trail. This ride was hosted by Metroplan Board Chair Daisy Lynum. Among the presentations were a fascinating history of Winter Garden—boom, bust and revitalization—from Jim Crescitelli of the Winter Garden Heritage […]

If you want to stop having this debate…

…stop trying to shut it down. We don’t hold an unpopular point of view for the hell of it. It’s the result of research, observation and practice. We’re not going to shut up just because you demand it. So if you want to stop having an endless debate, try actually listening with the intent to […]

This year there will be Earth Day celebrations in Winter Park (Central Park) and Orlando (Lake Eola). Both will have bike valets! I wanted to bring them the attention of the BPAC members who oversee various segments of the system. My two main points of […]

A Grand Adventure Story

This aired in 1999 on Montana public broadcasting. It’s worth setting aside some time to watch (or watch again). The program tells the story of the 25th Infantry’s bicycle trip from Missoula, Montana, to St. Louis, Missouri in 1897. The African American infantry took the trip to test a theory that the bicycle would replace […]

Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival

The Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival is March 15-17. This is a great bike destination! You can save the hassle and cost of parking a car. Bike valet services will be offered by the City of Winter Park and Leadership Winter Park. Both are pinned on the map below. There may be other locations. I’ll […]

Who ya gonna call?

I mentioned in my post about last Friday’s ride to dinner that a loop detector didn’t pick us up. When I got home, I used the Metroplan Orlando Spot Improvement form to report it. Today it was adjusted to detect bicycles.
