I dub thee Mount Cady

From this site: For those who don’t mind the early rise and want to build strength and endurance, this is a great place to train and challenge yourself! If you haven’t done hills or this type of bridge before this is also a good place to learn! We skate early to beat the heat. The […]

Getting There Is Half The Fun

We recently had one of those perfect October Florida days, with cooler temperatures, a light breeze, and plenty of sunshine: superb bicycling weather! Biker Rick and his family walked a few blocks to my house Saturday afternoon, where they tried out some folding bikes and each selected one that suited them. Karla chose a […]

Sunday trip to the burbs

I have great admiration for people who make a regular long-distance commute. In the last few years, my commute shrunk to 3.5 miles, then to the length of my condo. Now I use the bike for utility trips and some meetings. Sunday I made a longer trip.

That ride was led by Larry Smith, a gentleman from Vermillion, SD, who has lived with Parkinson’s Disease for 20 years. Larry rode over 300 […]

Full Thunder Moon Lives Up to Its Name

The Full Thunder Moon came through for us last night with a pop-up thunderstorm, right at ride time, that seemed to mushroom directly over our area.  I was riding up Maguire on a 1974  3 speed Raleigh Sports (bolt upright riding position) when the storm started, and I began pedaling like mad toward the meet-up […]

Making Time for Exercise with Active Transportation

Healthy Central Florida is encouraging people to take a pledge to do 30 minutes of exercise, three times a week for three months (3:30:3). I filled out the pledge card Monday, then decided to keep track of the exercise I get using my bike for transportation. I didn’t change anything, just decided to track an average week.
