Celebrate the ribbon-cutting of the new Dinky Line Trail!

Please join Retro City Cycles and the City of Orlando Police Department for the 29th Annual National Neighborhood Night Out! Tuesday, August 7, 5:30-7:30 pm at Lake Highland Park, corner of Ferris Ave. and Lake Highland Drive!

National Night out is a nationwide annual event for Neighborhood Watch communities. Our purpose is to encourage residents our neighborhood to meet and interact with each other to improve community safety.

We have designed the event this year to focus on the new Dinky Line Bike Trail on the north side of Lake Highland. Retro City Cycles will offer bicycle and helmet safety checks, and also hold a raffle to win Retro gift certificates!

Here are some of the activities that are scheduled:

> Ribbon cutting to open the Dinky Line Bike Trail to a half-mile bike parade for children and adults.

> We hope to have an OPD Bike Patrol Officer as the Grand Marshal.

> A safety organization will be inspecting bikes and riders.

> Visits by Commissioner Stuart, OPD, OFD

> Fire truck “summer shower” hose spray

> Doggy meet-and-greet

> Hootenanny music jam and sing along

> Hula Hoop / Frisbee / Bag Toss / yard games

> Lake water purity demonstrations

> Home security displays

> Ice cream, hot dogs, watermelons, cakes

We look forward to seeing you on August 7! For more info, please visit http://www.cityoforlando.net/police/citizen_info/neighborhood_watch_nno_intro.htm —

Looks like a “best possible” sidepath (no Dutch CROWs invading this field), in that there are no active driveways crossing it, and the road crossings are away from intersections. The former may change when the empty block north of Virginia is developed.

The west end will be at Magnolia north of Weber, right? Will there be legal access to continue west on Weber, or will you have to go the long way, crossing the railroad twice?
