WELL WOULDN’T YOU KNOW IT!

Where's the Ride?

As is so often the case with Central Florida weather, within minutes of cancelling the First Friday Ride, the dark clouds dissipated, the sun broke through, the birds started singing, and a heavenly choir of angels descended with…well, maybe it wasn’t quite that dramatic, but almost! Jason and I went up to Loch Haven Park in case anyone showed up, and we did have one person come on a beautiful vintage Robin Hood bicycle, which we admired and photographed.

Are those raindrops, or did you just drool on my vintage Robin Hood?

We also had a chance to play around with some fun ideas for a future ride event. So all was not lost. Hope you all have a safe and happy 4th of July weekend, and get in some riding. We’ll try to do a make-up group ride before the month is over.

Sure don’t get to see those very often! A bit more compact than my vintage Raleigh and it has cable brakes where mine has rod brakes. But they look about the same age.

This one is a 1975. I can’t figure out why the bike looks small here, other than tall owner and my bad camera angle.

Mine is a 1976. The front wheel is w-a-y out there. I think they call that a “relaxed” frame. The tight frames are the ones people go over the handlebars on.

The bike is actually a 1969. I have a Raleigh Dl-1 with rod brakes and know what you mean by a serious raked front.
Not sure why the bike looks small there either; it is a 23″ frame, the largest standard frame Raleigh made for its ‘sports’ model.

Oops! Sorry I misremembered the year. Hope you can come to the Full Moon ride with one of your beauties, Phil. I’ll take a better picture next time.
