Bicycle Flash Mob Orlando — May 6
Join Bike/Walk Central Florida and be a part of history! Take an hour out of your Friday morning, May 6, to be part of Orlando’s first, and maybe only videotaped bicycle flash mob. We’re trying to get 1,000 cyclists – in plain street clothes, no spandex, to ride four blocks with us (any old bike will do!) while we film it from above, around, in front, and inside for a YouTube video. We know it’s an inconvenient time, but there is a reason. You’ll be finished and on your way by 8:30. Register on Facebook.
This is taking part in conjunction with the Mayor’s ride. The gathering point for the Flash Mob will be different from the regular start for the Mayor’s ride (Infusion Tea in College Park). We still need people to start from Infusion, so I will lead a bike bus from Cady Way (Fashion Square) to Infusion Tea. We will meet at Cady Way at 7 AM. If you’d like to lead bike buses from any other part of town to the Flash Mob start (location TBA) or Infusion, contact me so we can get it advertised.
UPDATE: Flash Mob meets at the Orange County History Center. From BWCF:
This month only, we’re moving our First Friday ride up to Friday morning with two options for those of you working on your Bicycle Advocate merit badge
. A bunch of us will be mustering at 7:30 a.m. to ride with Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer from Infusion Tea on Edgewater in College Park. We’ll be meeting up with an even bigger bunch at Orange and Central, to make history with the first-ever Bicycle Flash Mob — Orlando. Tell your non-biking friends to scrape the rust off their chains and meet us on the plaza in front of the Orange County History Center before 8 a.m. We know, it’s an inconvenient hour, but that’s what time the mayor was riding. The Flash Mob is going to fall in behind the Mayor’s ride as it goes by, and ride down Orange to City Hall. We’ll film the whole thing, put it to music and post it on YouTube. It’s going to be hard to get 1,000 folks at that hour, so please spread the word far and wide. Every bike counts. Any bike will do — even if they have to push it like a hobby horse for four blocks. Help us make history!
OK, I was there flashing ….. 😉 Link us the video when you get it …
