ORLANDO, Fla. (June 9, 2010) – On June 17, 2010, the Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority (LYNX) will show its ongoing commitment to the community and the environment by offering free rides on all fixed-route and PickUpLine (PUL) service during a national ride public transit day. Passengers just need to show up at a stop and board a bus or call ahead for the PUL to see the benefits.
Access to public transportation provides people transportation options to get to work, go to school, visit friends or go to a doctor’s office. Additionally, it also will save passengers money and is environmentally responsible.
This national effort is a day that encourages people to ride public transportation to save money, protect the environment, reduce dependence on foreign oil and improve quality of life.
By simply riding a bus or using an alternative mode of transportation, LYNX will show the community how one can alleviate Central Florida congestion, reduce carbon emissions and emphasize that riding public transportation is a great travel option.
