A raised median shouldn’t be a problem; it’s a traffic-calming device. Some arrows pointing to the right around its base might be a good idea so that someone who wants to go left understands that they have to gow aroud the raised area in the middle of the intersection to get there.

They put stop signs on a couple of the mini-traffic circles here after motorists kept insisting on hitting each other.

Should be a red light and instead of STOP signs? Too few bricks in the cross walk areas? The “4-way” STOP not true? OK I give up… but I did have a good laugh!

Wow, a traffic engineer’s nightmare. A perfectly good concept, ruined. Have you guy seen this TED talk on a new traffic sign? He calls it the “Take turns” sign. Love it!!

    http://www.ted.com/talks/gary_lauder_s_new_traffic_sign_take_turns.html

(for the impatient, he shows the sign at 3:35 or so)

“Gary Lauder shares a brilliant and cheap idea for helping drivers move along smoothly: a new traffic sign that combines the properties of “Stop” and “Yield” — and asks drivers to be polite.”

IMO, this would be a great win for cyclists, too.

    Is this in Washington Shores?

The City put one in there and it’s just, well, less than desirable.

It’s just before the canal bridge on Nela in Belle Aisle. Have you seen the bizarre triangle thing after the bridge?

You all missed a big one!

The red brick crosswalks should be bordered by white, reflective crosswalk strips at a minimum. Red brick crosswalks are difficult at best to make out in the dark and near impossible to see at night in the rain.

The widened approaches to the traffic circle (note the raised triangle median leading to it) defeat the purpose of having the traffic circle. There is no traffic calming here. Way too easy to just motor right through.

This not too bad. Have you seen the round a bouts with Yield signs that shrubs in the middle so high that you can not see the other side. Try driving on Concord St east of DT.

I’ve seen a few 4-way-stops in residential areas that have a decorative centerpiece in San Jose, California. Maybe that’s what they were trying for, got the scale wrong, and kept trying to add things to fix it.

Wow, just as cool as our intermittent bike lanes Downtown. Not only is the crosswalk unmarked, but it might as well be in the lane at a few points.

This is a good example of how to confuse the public. The right of way rules are different at a all-way stop than a roundabout, so what is a driver to do? Also If this were a roundabout the crosswalks should be one car length back. How are we ever going to get public support for roundabouts when these type of project are constructed?
