Dr. Cline, professor of journalism and author of Carbon Trace, once suggested that we have to proactively give the media the story we want told. Or something like that. It’s in the comments of some old post and I’m too lazy to look for it. But I remembered the gist. With all the recent press...

My New Hero, Boris Johnson

Dan Kitwood/Getty Images Hail the heroic parents who let their children cycle to school The couple who have shown faith in their children – and London’s streets – should be applauded, not hounded, says Boris Johnson. Every so often I find a new hero. I read in the papers of some individual who is ...

Here is the latest installment of the Orlando Sentinel’s editorial disdain for the rights of bicycle drivers to influence their own safety without the onus of discriminatory laws. This cartoon ran over the weekend. Aside from demonstrating a lack of understanding of the issue, the inflammatory nature of this cartoon is irresponsible. This is hate-mongering...

After publishing a very salutatory article about Bike To Work Day and bicycling in general, the Orlando Sentinel chose to publish Make Our Roads Safer, an editorial condemning Florida bicyclist’s objections to HB 971 which would require bicyclists to use bicycle lanes.  In the Sentinel’s editorial, local bike advocates Brad Kuhn and Mighk Wilson’s...

So much ignorance, where do I begin?

Beneath the yellow tarp lies the body of a 19 year old girl who was following the Oregon's mandatory bike lane law and Portland's bike lane design.

Today’s Sentinel editorial is in support of the mandatory bike lane law. The Sentinel shows a clear lack of understanding of pretty much all the issues of law, safety and road design as it pertains to bicycling. But hey,  don’t let your complete ignorance of a subject get in the way of expressing opinions...
