MetroPlan Needs Your Help to Make Accurate Area Bicycle & Pedestrian Counts

MetroPlan Orlando needs volunteers to help count pedestrians and bicyclists at key locations around the metro area. These counts will measure effects of infrastructure improvements (such as SunRail, crosswalks and bikeways) and land use changes on pedestrians and cyclists.

We will be counting in 2-hour blocks on two days in September at several locations, including SunRail stations. We’re looking for at least 30 volunteer counters. Volunteers will receive T-shirts, water bottles and other goodies for their efforts.

There is a mandatory training for first-time counters.

Please consider joining us and/or helping us get the word out. We plan to continue these counting events during the next few years to document how our bike and pedestrian facilities are being used.

Dates for the September counts and training:

  • Mandatory training session — Monday, September 8, at 5:30 p.m.
  • Weekday Count — Thursday, September 11, from 5-7 p.m.
  • Saturday Count — Saturday, September 13, from noon-2 p.m.

See the links below for more information about the count and a full list of locations. For more information, contact:
