First Friday is a civil and lawful demonstration that we are traffic. We ride at a pace that is accessible to most people (~9mph). We ride many styles of human powered vehicles — from townies to road bikes to cargo carriers to recumbent trikes.

Is this a kind of lawful “critical mass” without all the baggage and/or bad behaviour? If so, I think you’re very much on the right track.
Yep. It’s like critical manners. No baggage. No ‘tude. We get a lot of cheers and friendly waves from motorists. Rarely do we experience incivility.
