When the subject of utility cycling arose in late 2009, I landed on a blog dedicated to such. After commenting about a cargo bike video, Melanie Meyers, at www.utilitycycling.org, extended an invitation to be part of a post regarding bicycle trailers.
Thanks Keri, for the photos accompanying the interview!

Lovely site. I’ll have to read more of the material there. Let me add my thanks to Keri for the photos.
Utility cycling is the trend of the future. The City of Toronto just released its latest figures. In 1999, 20% of the population of Toronto were utility cyclists. By 2009, this had increased to 29% of all the people.
Recreational cyclists are 25% of the population, leaving non-cyclists in a minority of 46%.
For the first time, cyclists are an absolute majority of the population. This is a municipal election year, so that’s a little fact that I’m going to keep repeating to the candidates.

Excellent Rodney! I really like the Utility Cycling site too.
Rodney is featured in the law enforcement programing (humanizing human powered road users) and hopefully we’ll cut some of that great content into PSAs. He’s the ultimate spokesman… every time I’m anywhere with him, he gives a “Ride With Me” card to everyone we encounter
