    Thanks, Mighk.

This cartoon really speaks to me.

I don’t want anyone to think I’m trying to impress anyone, for any reason, when they see me on my bike. I want to be ignored and forgotten about.

The compulsion to have people admire you because they see you riding is just ridiculous, and it inspires a lot of animosity.

I agree with John. I’m just trying to get to work. Its a commute trip, not an ego trip. And I don’t think of myself as a cyclist. I’m just a guy going to work or the grocery store or church or wherever.

Hey, can we help it if we’re better than everyone else? (KIDDING!!) 😉

But I cannot deny that whenever I hand out bike stickers from to my Commuting Meetup members, “That SUV Makes You Look Fat” *always* goes quickest!

Only 15 days until the return of Yehuda Moon and the Kickstand Cyclery!

Does anyone else read Frazz? He’s a bike-racer sort of fellow with a great attitude. He’s not gone VC (yet), but there’s always hope.

fred_dot_u – “gone VC”! Heh. You guys do make some pretty persuasive arguments. Thanks to all the stuff from you and others that I’ve read, I find my riding style changing to be more VC almost every time I’m out (and I’m out every day)… I was pretty good about taking my lane before, but now I think I’m almost completely “gone VC”. Some bad habits die hard, however.

Rantwick, one of the habits that took me a few trips to break was the tendency to drift over to the right edge of the road. It’s an inferiority posture and the first time a motorist passes too closely, without changing lanes, the habit loses reinforcement!

That is really funny! I like John B’s comment about the bumper sticker, “that SUV makes you look fat”. I want one!

I remember reading about a sticker that was surreptitiously applied to SUVs that read:

“Stop and ask me what I’m doing to help Save the Environment!!”
