BPAC is comprised of a broad base of professionals and concerned citizens whose mission is to advise the LSMPO Board on bicycle and pedestrian issues. Also, the Committee assists the LSMPO Board in the formulation of goals and objectives for shaping urban and rural environments through the effective planning for bicycle and pedestrian facilities.

The County Commission is seeking one (1) representative each from Commission Districts 1, 3, and 5 to serve two-year terms beginning Jan. 1, 2010.

Lake-Sumpter MPO Address

Metropolitan Planning Organization Meeting

Metropolitan Planning Organization Meeting

Ken and Rick were invited to address the Lake-Sumpter MPO (Metropolitan Planning Organization).  This is the group that ultimately suggests priorities and design requirements for road and infrastructure development projects to the FDOT and local governments.

They were personally welcomed and their message was received well.  As a result of that meeting there is a possibility that Lake County might adopt an agreement that would classify it as a “bicycle-friendly” community according to the certification criteria set forth by the League of American Wheelmen.  We are hopeful, but it could take more work to reach full agreement on the certification criteria.
