The Lake County Bicycle Alliance was founded following a couple of unnecessary, and volatile, incidents between motorists and bicyclists. It happens. One minute you’re riding along a peaceful stretch of road enjoying a sunny day, and the next minute you’re in the grass, heart pumping, white knuckled, trying to keep the rubber-side down. The car that buzzed you probably doesn’t even slow down. You wonder if the driver was inattentive, or if you’re in the ditch intentionally…
So what can you do? We believe the answer is to educate, enforce, and advocate. It has a nice ring. But does it really mean anything? Unequivocally yes. Read on and we believe you will be inspired to join this movement to effect a small change in a big world.
Stated directly:
Our mission is to educate cyclists and motorists about Florida’s bicycling laws, work with law enforcement agencies to insure that those laws are fairly enforced, and to advocate for cycling-friendly development and maintenance of roads and trails.
To accomplish this misson, we have invested ourselves in five (5) initiatives which we believe will lead to a safer, and more enjoyable, cycling experience while improving the overall quality of life, here in Lake County. We can’t do it alone…we won’t do it alone. If the effort succeeds, or fails, it is because you chose to become involved, or not. Please read on and stand along side us to affect a positive, tangible, change in our community. “Take a pull”, even a short one will help us all move down the road!
