Your Roads – Your Rides

6:30 pmto7:30 pm

The Lake County Bicycle Alliance is hosting a BARBQUE at our next “Your Roads – Your Rides” meeting at Sun Cycle Center in Tavares, on Monday, July 27th at 6:30pm.

100 W Burleigh Blvd (US 441), Tavares, 32778 - Phone 352-343-4181

This particular meeting will focus on introducing all thirteen (13) of the Lake County law enforcement agencies to our efforts to educate and inform the general public, cyclists, and law enforcement itself regarding Florida Bicycle Law.

The Florida Bicycle Association will be presenting an overview of their “Beta” version of the Bicycle Law Training Program (hosted by George Martin).

Kudos to Sheriff Borders for following through on his commitment to appoint a “bicycle liaison” to interface with our ongoing effort. This responsibility has been accepted by Sergeant Thomas McCain IV. The last two meetings have been attended by Deputy Gabe White. Deputy White has been instrumental in coordinating with the other twelve (12) agencies here in Lake County in having a representative present at the July 27th meeting. By developing a partnership and foundation between law enforcement and cyclists when circumstance requires law enforcement involvement it will provide a conduit for clear and open communication.

If you are reading this then we share a passion for life in general and cycling in particular. If you want to see a change then get involved and become a part of this effort. With our mutual efforts positive change will take place. Without it don’t complain next time an automobile (driver) gives you the respect of an armadillo crossing the road!

Come solo if you must or better yet bring a riding buddy or two. There are enough avid cyclists that use the roads of Lake County that if we come together we will have the united voice of literally hundreds. And that my friend can’t be ignored!

Since food will be served, and we don’t want to run short, PLEASE RSVP by 7/24/09 (if you want to eat) with your attendance to Rick Pitner at carpediem@power1.com

The Lake County Bicycle Alliance

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009

Would you like to experience common courtesy and respect (from drivers) as a cyclist on the roads of Lake County?

We are working with law enforcement, media, government, and the bicycle community to promote, educate, and enforce, Florida Bicycle Law. Whether you compete, take an occasional family ride, or are an enthusiast, for less time than “a ride” come see how “WE” can make our roads safer, and more enjoyable, for us all.

The wheels are roll’in…come join us!
