I know, I should be ashamed of myself...

I was followed by a goose yesterday as I biked up US 17/92 through Maitland in the middle of the narrow lane. (And it was a goose, not a gander.)

I generally ignore the first honk, and give a friendly wave when they pass.  But she couldn't pass yet, so she honked again...

Ms. Goose: HOOONK!
Me: [ friendly, five-fingered wave:  Hi! ]

HOONK!
[ super-friendly five-fingered wiggly wave: Hi again! ]

HOOOONK!
[ hand cupped to ear, palm facing back: I can't hear you! ]

HOONK! HOONK! HOOOONK!HOONK!HOOOOOONK!HOONK!HOONK!
[ hand/arm pumping up and down; palm facing sky:  Yeah!  Louder!  Gimme all you got! ]

She probably missed a couple of lane-changing/passing opportunities because she was so fixated on my presence.  When she finally did pass she gave me the obligatory and emphatic single-fingered wave.

Poor thing.  I probably took two years off her lifespan in stress.  Don't hate me.  Taunting caged animals is a real sickness.  Like Michael Vick, I need understanding and help.

Funny!!    Grin   Well, your post.  Not how you were treated ...

Where did she expect you to move to?  Oh, yeah ...  anywhere that was out of her way .....

Ooooh, this gives me an idea ... what if you could send her a message?  What would you say to her?   I'll do a post on the main board ..... look for it .....

LOL!

You know, if you can get a good laugh out of it, it's almost worth it to encounter these stupid animals.

She probably takes years off her life every time she gets behind the wheel.

Good point!  It's too easy for me to not use all my fingers when I wave back.  I think keeping your emotions under control is essential.  That is one of the main reasons I ride is because it's fun.  Thanks Mighk!! Cool
